FORM & FUNCTION
EXPRESSION OF TRUTH AND BEAUTY

"Form always follows function" is an iconic phrase in architecture. In other words, the form has adapted to the requirements of the structure. In this project, our main objective is to make an object adjust its movements to a bridge already designed. This project examines the relationship between form and function in architectural design.
The goal was to design an existing bridge. We were then to use moveable objects, using household item concepts, and incorporate them into the bridge to create a 30' X 40' opening.

MOVEMENT ANALOGY

THE MOVEMENT OF THESE OBJECTS IS INTENDED TO ACT AS THE MEANS FOR OPENING THE ROADBED FOR BOATS OR OTHER WATER TRAFFIC TO PASS. THEY MUST BE INCORPORATED INTO THE PROTOTYPE DESIGNS TO PROVIDE A 30'X40' GAP IN THE SPAN OF THE BRIDGE.
