CONTEXTUAL FIT
The goal of this project was to plan an expansion to a current design using the surrounding context. We extruded our design by analyzing the various systems of the original form and the location, landscape, and culture around the network. The model utilized was "Smith House," planned by Richard Meier in 1965, situated on the Long Island Sound.
NARRATIVE
The Salvatore family wants to start a new life. They have decided to move from Ukraine to the United States. To begin their new lives, they have decided to buy the Smith house. The family loves nature and has always dreamed of living in a place surrounded by nature. They have requested that an addition be built, with the primary objective being to obtain the Main Bedroom, Family Room. Regarding the design of the house, the family wants the Seaview as the primary objective that they want to maintain; for this reason, the relationship between the exterior and interior space is fundamental in this design. It is also essential that the new extension respects and maintains the beauty of the existing house.
